Most bookkeeping firms will get your transactions categorized and your accounts reconciled. That's the baseline. But for a lot of small business owners, the real frustration isn't that the books are wrong. It's that the books don't tell them anything useful.
You get a P&L at the end of the month and the numbers balance, but you still can't answer the questions that actually matter. Which jobs made money and which ones didn't. Whether you can afford to hire. Why revenue is up but the bank account feels tight.
That's the problem Jackrabbit Accounting was built to solve. Sean Larsen spent his career doing exactly this kind of work for large companies. Breaking down financials, tracking performance across departments, and turning raw numbers into decisions that leadership could actually act on. He started Jackrabbit to bring that same capability to small businesses in Chandler, the East Valley, and the greater Phoenix area.
The foundation is always accurate bookkeeping. But the goal is to give you financials that actually help you run your business. When your books are done right and presented clearly, you make better decisions. You spot problems before they become expensive. And your tax accountant gets clean, well-organized records that can save you real money at filing time.
Meet Sean Larsen, CPA
I started my career as an auditor at a Big 4 public accounting firm. The work was essentially investigative. I would go into a company's financials and verify that everything was accurate and compliant with GAAP, the gold standard for financial reporting in the US. Clients ranged from local real estate portfolio owners to Fortune 500 companies. That experience built an attention to accuracy that I still carry into every engagement today.
From there, I moved into corporate finance in the homebuilding industry. Over several years I worked my way up to Director of Finance for a division of a publicly traded homebuilder, and also served as Controller at another large homebuilding company. These weren't just accounting roles. I was tracking production, managing budgets, analyzing job costs, and working directly with every department from sales to purchasing to land acquisitions. I learned how a business actually operates, not just how the numbers get recorded.
That combination is what I bring to Jackrabbit Accounting. The auditing background means your books will be accurate and organized down to the detail. The corporate finance background means I can look at those books and tell you what's happening in your business. Where you're making money, where you're not, and what you can do about it.
I hold a CPA license, an MBA, and I'm a certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor. If you have questions about your business or want to talk about how I can help, you can always reach me directly.
